Willow Open Chess Tournament has new date – Ozark Radio News

WILLOW SPRINGS, Mo. — The 2019 Willow Open Chess Tournament will take place Saturday, February 16 at the Willow Springs High School Bears Den.

Registration begins at 9 am, with round 1 of play starting at 9:30 am. Lunch will take place at 1 pm, with awards given out around 4 pm.

The event was initially scheduled twice in January but rescheduled both times due to inclement weather.

The tournament is open to any and all school-aged children, and has several divisions including high school, junior high, middle school, elementary school, and adult. Each participant will play at least 4 games, with a one hour normal time limit. After that, a 5 minute clock may be instituted based on the discretion of the tournament director. Individual awards will be given for 1st through 10th places in all divisions.
