STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point Athletics department received a generous gift of a new, branded golf cart from SentryWorld on Saturday. SentryWorld General Manager Mike James presented the keys to a brand new golf cart complete with UWSP and SentryWorld branding at halftime of the Pointers’ football game against UW-River Falls.
“We are grateful for the generosity that SentryWorld has shown in donating this golf cart to our athletics program,” stated UWSP Athletics Director Brad Duckworth. “Mike and the staff at SentryWorld have been fantastic partners with UWSP athletics and are an integral part of this community.”
“Because much of what we do at SentryWorld is sports-related, we felt it was a natural fit to assist the UW-Stevens Point athletic department in their need for a golf cart,” said Mike James, SentryWorld General Manager. “And since we know a thing or two about golf carts, we were happy and proud to partner on this project.”
The new golf cart will be utilized by the UWSP athletic training staff for transporting supplies to and from practices and games. UWSP will also use the golf cart to transport injured athletes off the playing field when necessary.
“Our connection to UW-Stevens Point goes beyond the obvious athletic ties,” said Mike James, SentryWorld General Manager. “Many students and student-athletes have worked over the years in our restaurants, banquet operations, field house, and golf course.”
The golf cart use will not be confined to athletics. It can be used to shuttle donors and recruits around campus. The golf cart will also be a great addition to the tools available as the university adds of a master’s program in athletic training.
