USC Sumter to add volleyball in 2021 | The Sumter Item – Sumter Item

The University of South Carolina Sumter will be adding a ninth sport to its athletics program in the 2021-22 school year, bringing in women’s volleyball.

This will be the fifth women’s program for the school, which participates in the National Junior College Athletic Association as a Division I member of Region X. The other women’s programs are softball, golf, tennis and soccer.

The school also has four men’s programs – baseball, golf, tennis and soccer.

“Volleyball is an in-demand sport, especially in Sumter,” said USC Sumter director of athletics Adrienne Cataldo in a press release. “We are thrilled to be starting volleyball as a collegiate NJCAA sport at USC Sumter.”

The search is on for a head coach for the program. Anyone who is interested in the position can reach out to Cataldo at cataldo@email.sc.edu.

And while the first season may still be a year away, any prospective players who might be interested in playing at USC Sumter can fill out an interest form at www.uscfireants.com.
