College football coaching carousel: A look at who's out and who's in – OregonLive


The 2019 college football regular season is complete, championship weekend is approaching and bowl season is just around the corner. Now as the calendar has turned to December, the coaching carousel is rapidly picking up pace.

Below is a look at who has been fired (or resigned) and who has been hired in the college coaching world.

WHO’S OUT? Chris Petersen, 54-26 in six seasons

WHOS’ IN? The Huskies are promoting defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake, 42, to head coach. Lake has served as DBs coach and co-DC before taking over as defensive coordinator in 2018.

Rutgers Scarlett Knights

WHO’S OUT? Chris Ash, 8-32 in just under four seasons

WHO’S IN? Greg Schiano is back at Rutgers, where he went 68-67 from 2001 to 2011 as head coach, guiding the Scarlett Knights to six bowl appearances before jumping to the NFL.

WHO’S OUT? Charlie Strong, 21-16 in three seasons

WHO’S IN? The Bulls could turn to a familiar face and bring back Willie Taggart, according to veteran college football reporter Bruce Feldman. Taggart coached at South Florida from 2013-16 before moving on to Oregon and Florida State.
