Hazeltine National Golf Club, the host course of the 2016 Ryder Cup and many other major PGA championships, has appointed a new executive chef.
Michael Patton has been chosen to run the kitchen at the Chaska golf and entertainment center, taking the latest step in an illustrious career in cooking.
Having trained at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in New York, graduating in 1989, Chef Patton has gone on to a varied and exciting career in food, building a reputation on the national dining stage.
Among his former diners was President Bill Clinton, for whom Patton provided private dining for his Presidential Inauguration.
His career has seen him work at famous venues including The Adolphus Hotel in New York, the 1789 Restaurant in Washington D.C., the Four Seasons Hotel and Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, and The Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.
He went on to head up kitchens at restaurants in Santa Barbara and Sonoma, California, before most recently embarking on a 14-year stint at the Silverleaf Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
“Hiring Michael as our Executive Chef takes us to another level of talent. Under Michael’s leadership we think Hazeltine National will develop into one of the best culinary experiences on this side of the Twin Cities” said Bob Fafinski, President of Hazeltine National.
“Not only will our golf and social members absolutely love the dining experience but we also expect individuals and corporate customers that book weddings and banquets at Hazeltine will be impressed.”
Chef Patton will be followed to Minnesota by his wife Ann and son Reyn, who will join him “as school permits,” per a release from Hazeltine.
