CBB Insider Jon Rothstein Has Huge Expectations For Kansas In 2019-20 – The Spun

Kansas basketball lost the Big 12 title for the first time since Bill Self’s first season with the Jayhawks in 2018-19. Don’t expect that to be a trend.

The Jayhawks return a ton of talent from last season, including big man Udoka Azubuike, who missed much of last year with an injury. KU will enter the season near the top of the polls, and is the likely Big 12 favorite.

If you’re a college hoops fan on Twitter, you are undoubtedly familiar with CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein. He has started to preview the conferences on the platform, when he’s not busy staying humble and hungry and eating his favorite house salads.

On Monday, the Big 12 was up, and Kansas is all over his early predictions.

Jon Rothstein has Kansas as the No. 1 team in the Big 12 entering the 2019-20 college basketball season.

Rothstein has KU beating out national runner-up Texas Tech to win the league after last season’s disappointment.

That was far from the only plaudit he had for the Jayhawks. Azubuike is his conference player of the year pick, and one of two first team All-Conference picks from Kansas, along with Devon Dotson.

Rothstein dove a bit deeper into the league as well. He dubbed three new Jayhawks—Jalen Wilson, Tristan Enaruna, and Dajuan Harris—as “impact freshmen.” They’re joined by another newcomer, former Iowa Hawkeye Isaiah Moss, who cracks the Big 12 “impact transfers” list.

He also put together a list of Big 12 breakout players, including Ochai Agbaji and Silvio De Sousa.

Obviously, if all of this is true, Kansas is going to be a force this season. Even if some of these guys fall a bit short, the Jayhawks should be pretty stacked.
